IoTerop announces its engagement and partnership with Ericsson, and its IoT Accelerator Platform (IoT Accelerator) enabling IoT device manufacturers to integrate OMA LwM2M into their products.
“IoTerop and Ericsson have joined forces to help device manufacturers to embrace OMA Lightweight M2M and make sure their products can be seamlessly and securely managed, updated and controlled by Ericsson’s IoT Accelerator platform,” says Regina Andersson Ecosystem Partner Manager IoT Eco, Technology & Emerging Business, IoT.
“Ericsson’s IoT Accelerator platform is built to connect billions of devices and millions of applications easily and seamlessly”, says Regina Andersson Ecosystem Partner Manager IoT Eco, Technology & Emerging Business, IoT.
And Hatem Oueslati, CEO of IoTerop to add: “Indeed, scaling IoT deployments to massive volumes implies the full realization of secure and open Device Management capabilities.”
In order to sustain their infrastructure investments and quality of service, global operators require device vendors to implement features such as:
- provisioning devices other-the-air,
- changing parameters, data reporting frequencies and device policies remotely,
- securing data flows all the way from devices to the service applications using authentication and cyphering,
- updating deployed device fleets with firmware updates.
Such capabilities have to rely on Open Standards such as the OMA Lightweight M2M (LwM2M). This is the only way to guaranty large-scale deployments across device manufacturers. Ericsson’s IoT Accelerator recommends device vendors to embrace LwM2M and respond to the Global Operators’ demand.
Regina Andersson, Ecosystem Partner Manager IoT Eco, Technology & Emerging Business, IoT acknowledges that “Ericsson has already performed interoperability testing between LwM2M server implementation in IoT Accelerator and IoTerop’s IOWA LwM2M client, allowing any device vendor adopting IOWA to become interoperable with Ericsson’s IoT Accelerator platform.”
IoTerop’s IOWA provides a commercial LwM2M client implementation, portable on any IoT device hardware, operating system and networking topology, including NB-IoT and LTE-CatM. IOWA already includes the Device Management features and services expected by Ericsson’s IoT Accelerator platform. “Such an interoperability and compliance statement ensures device manufacturers to speed-up their time-to-market in releasing LwM2M enabled products qualified to work onto Ericsson’s IoT Accelerator platform and consequently to any of their Network Operators’ customers”, says Hatem, CEO of IoTerop.
“Any device vendor who wants to adopt and integrate this future prove standard based solution would benefit from working with IoTerop. This opens up a huge new go-to-market channel to device vendors via Ericsson’s Global Operators customers,” concluded Regina Andersson Ecosystem Partner Manager IoT Eco, Technology & Emerging Business, IoT.
